I can't believe it, the infection came back again last night! Iphoned the GP this morning, and they told me that the clinic was fully booked and there is no free time slot that the doctor can see me. But they said they will get a nurse practitioner to phone me back soon. This is the system in UK. You have to register with a GP before you can see the doctor (unless you go to the hospital) and you have to phone the GP for an appointment before you can see the doctor . Not like in Singapore, you can choose to go to which ever clinic you like and you can just go to the clinic if you are sick, and you can even go to two clinics if you like to seek for second opinion.

The nurse practitioner phoned me 10 mins later. She asked me what happened and she asked me to go the clinic to see her at 12.20, so I went. Because I had been taking antibiotic (which apparently does not kill all the bacteria), she is not sure whether she should give me another antibiotic. So she went to consult the doctor, then she came back to tell me that she decided to give me a different type of antibiotic. After she printed the medicine chit, she brought it to the doctor for signature before giving it to me. She said she is not the doctor and she is not authorised to sign the medicine chit. So, I was treated by the nurse but not the doctor. With the medicine chit, I went to a pharmacy nearby to buy the medicine. In UK, the clinics do not sell medicine. They only give you medicine chit and patients have to go to pharmacy to buy medicine themselves.

So far, these are the antibiotics I have taken:

Midecamycin 200mg - 15 cap for 5 days
Augmentin 625mg - 21 tables for 7 days
Macrodantin 50mg - 30 tables for 7 days

I learnt that it is important to keep track what antibiotics I take, so that next time, I can tell the doctor which antibiotics work or do not work for me.

Facing Challenges with Cheers!

Let's always try to challenge
any of our struggles
cheerfully and with enthusiasm!
A single wave of joy calls forth
tens of thousands of waves of victory.
Firmly united, let's enact a stirring drama
in which "the wise will rejoice".

Feeling better
